We are starting the year with Mark Crumley as our January Faculty Friday! He has been an amazing addition to our team for the last seven years. He has brought great experience to the new construction division and we are very lucky to have him on our team.

What is your role at Dillabaugh’s Flooring America?
I’m the manager of the new construction division.

How long have you been with the company?
Since 2010, so about 7 years.

How did you choose your profession?
My cousin and I were both in the grocery business. I always loved the trade because it’s rewarding and my cousin decided to jump ship and check out the flooring industry. In 1978 I started working as a union installer for 9 1/2 years and then broke off and started my own company as a contractor. I sold my company and moved here; Dillabaugh’s has been awesome and trusted me to build this division.

What part of your job is your favorite?
Knowing that you are able to accomplish what the customer is looking for and have them satisfied with your work. I also appreciate working with my staff; I’m very fortunate. They do an awesome job and they make me look good.

Tell me about a project or accomplishment that you consider to be the most significant in your career.
There’s been so many of them. There was a project when I was working in California where we helped the underprivileged. We donated all of the materials and labor. To be able to give back, it was a very gratifying experience.

Where is your favorite place to take an out-of-town guest?
I like Sun Valley and McCall. We are pretty simple people though, so we like to just have the family over for a barbecue. Wine and steak are always a favorite of ours.

Where were you born and raised?
Sacramento, California. I grew up in Placerville and went to school there. We bought a house in 2004 and came back and forth to figure out where we wanted to live and then officially moved here in 2009. Our step-daughter lived in Idaho and I hunted up here all the time, so I told my wife we should just move up here.

If you could only eat one type of food for a year, what would it be?
Pizza! Mmm I love pizza. Any kind; I might want to change it up at breakfast with a different one.

What would be your “perfect” day?
Sitting on my boat with my wife on a beautiful sunny day. My wife loves to sit out in the sun and read her book and then when the fish start biting she says, “okay, give me the pole” haha!

Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
My wife. She has awesome integrity, honesty, and love.

What’s your favorite place in the entire world?
Anywhere outdoors; when I’m out there I’m in peace. I would have to say my favorite place though would be Long Lake in Graeagle, California. I grew up vacationing there with my family.

What accomplishments are you most proud of?
My family. We are pretty family oriented and love having everyone together. We have eight grandkids and it’s amazing when we get to see everyone together. I think to myself “goal accomplished”. We like to live peacefully and I’m so thankful for the life that I’ve had. It’s been a great journey.

Do you have a sweet tooth? What’s your favorite treat?
I love them all! Anything with dark chocolate and Twix. My granddaughter, Kiara, makes these peanut butter brownies that are delicious.
